Here at the Torbay Development Agency (TDA) we offer access to a full range of Business Support and cover everything from providing office space in our award winning Innovation Centres to endeavoring to raise the skills, aspirations and productivity of Torbay.
The TDA works in partnership with Business Link who are the main gateway to all business support both publicly & privately funded. business link also run a full range of free courses information on the locally available ones can be found on our "Courses" page.
As well as this through our Strategic Investment framework (SIF) we are further developing a suite of business support programmes (Business Boost), further information about this exciting new initiative can be found here.
South West Innovation Centres
Starting or growing a business? We operate purpose-designed business incubator centres providing working space with a range of support services to help businesses develop and prosper. We currently have Innovation Centres in Ivybridge, Paignton and Torquay with:
- first-class desk and office space to rent from £132 pcm
- fully equipped meeting rooms bookable by the hour
- an unparalleled range of business support services including: - networking events - training courses - 1 to 1 advice - mentoring

Business Boost
Supporting local businesses and helping them to grow is a key priority for Torbay and the Torbay Development Agency.
The Torbay Development Agency has developed a series of business support programmes designed to equip local businesses with a greater understanding of business issues as well as to stimulate ideas for business improvement, development and growth.

Employment Skills Board
Established in early 2009 by the Torbay Development Agency the Torbay and South Devon Employment and Skills Board (ESB) is an important new initiative which has been set up with a vision to raise the skills, aspirations and productivity of the Torbay and South Devon workforce and to support the growth of a vibrant and successful local economy.
Financially supported by Torbay Council and the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) the ESB is an employer led, employer focused strategic body designed to help ensure that employers are ideally positioned to guide and influence the skills priorities for the area.
Strategic Investment Framework
(SIF) sets out the vision and strategy for supporting the enhancement of business support and developing an enterprise culture, particularly in deprived areas.
Economic indicators show that Torbay's economy has not been developing at the same rate as other areas in the South West.
The SIF outlines an ambitious programme of work to stimulate the economy through enterprise.
Torbay Business Forum
The Torbay Business Forum comprises a wide membership including representatives of local business bodies such as the Chambers of Commerce and Federation of Small Business, representatives of business sectors in Torbay including solicitors, accountants and surveyors, individual members whose business makes a significant contribution to the economy of Torbay. These representatives are joined by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, senior Council officers, senior officers from the Torbay Development Agency and other business support organisations including Business Link and Jobcentre Plus.
Business Link
Business Link provides the information, advice and support you need to start,run and grow a business. This service is impartial and our motivation is to provide practical solutions to customers and offer a fresh insight and an independent solution to their particular needs.
Grants for Business Investment
Variable grants to assist businesses to grow or safeguard jobs. Minimum grant £10,000 - Rate of eligibility subject to business sector and type of expenditure.
Free access to thousands of UK-wide Government contracts
Businesses interested in supplying an the public sector can now access lower-value contracts across the UK for Free.
GRANTnet
Torbay Development Agency subscribes to GRANTnet, a user-friendly service which helps businesses and community organisations identify potential sources of funding for specific projects. It contains the most comprehensive and up-to-date database of grants, loans and other initiatives operating in the UK. Once you have registered with GRANTnet, you will be e-mailed a password which will allow you to gain access. Having logged into the system, you will need to answer a few simple questions about your organisation and the project which you wish to undertake; GRANTnet will then provide details of all the funding schemes available.
