Supporting local businesses and helping them to grow is a key priority for Torbay and the Torbay Development Agency.
The Torbay Development Agency has developed a series of business support programmes designed to equip local businesses with a greater understanding of business issues as well as to stimulate ideas for business improvement, development and growth.
The following half or one day courses are now available:
- Pre start – all the information you need to know before you set up you business
- New Start – advice on finance, sales and marketing, business planning and business regulations
Boosting sales through the internet
We now work in a truly global economy and ICT has now made it easier to reach new customers. Are you making the most of it?
This participative full day work shop has been designed to encourage and challenge reflection on current practice, and enable learnt skills to be taken back into the workplace.

This 1 day course has been designed to give small companies an understanding of the key elements of business law.

This 2 day modular course is designed to develop the skills and focus on the actions most relevant to growing a small business.
The course is designed to be flexible and you can attend either or both of the 1 day courses.

Creative thinking
Creative thinking is an essential component of business success at all levels, particularly for small businesses where resources may be more limited.
These interactive half-day workshops will help you to develop the skills and tools required to produce new ideas for taking your business forward.

Adopting social media to boost business
Social media is a relatively new phenomenon but the impact it has on business cannot be underestimated.
This parcipative half day work shop has been designed to encourage and challenge reflection on current practice, and enable the learnt skills to be taken back into the workplace.

This course aims to give those businesses with no in house expertise some simple tools to enable them to manage and improve their business finances.

The Introduction to Exporting workshop introduces delegates to a practical approach to beginning to export, to develop international business and processes. and to ensure that any export trade will be profitable.

- This will take you through to our booking section, please work your way through all the screens ensuring you have selected all the courses and dates you are interested in. Prices are per person and places are limited.
- Once you have selected your course/courses and submitted your contact details a invoice will be generated and sent to the relevant address. Your place will only be confirmed on receipt of payment which is due in advance of the course.
- Payment can now be made by cheque, these should be made out to Torbay Council

*Businesses outside the Bay are welcome and the cost will be £20 for a half day per session and £40 per session for a full day, e.g. Creative Thinking 4 half days = £80 and Pricing for success 1 half day = £20, if you are at all unsure on the cost of your course please contact us for confirmation.
