Completion Date: December 2007
Partners: Safer Communities, Torbay Council
Since its establishment in 2004, the Torbay Development Agency has focused its relatively limited resources on a number of deliverable projects aimed at providing measurable and significant benefit to the Torbay economy.
Torbay presents almost unlimited opportunity for economic regeneration through a programme of capital developments. Projects have been chosen and prioritised to support Torbay's core industry strengths and to support the generation of an improved commercial climate with opportunity for company creation and growth.
The selection and structuring of future capital projects will be enhanced by the introduction of the "Mayoral vision for the built environment". This concept is intended to take a structured look at the entire opportunity for capital projects throughout Torbay, both publicly and privately funded, and establish criteria against which capital project proposals can be evaluated and ranked. This programme will operate in parallel with the development of the new Local Development Framework thus ensuring that there is total harmony with the legislative framework required for the eventual delivery of the prioritised projects.
The Torbay Development Agency's role is therefore to work with partners to establish key priorities for capital projects and then to lead on the development of those projects including all phases from concept and funding through to delivery.
