Brixham Regeneration - Town Centre & The Lanes

Project Investment: £25,000,000

Completion Date: October 2012

Partners: Brixham 21, Private sctor

The busy town of Brixham is locally known as two separate towns; 'Cow Town' and 'Fish Town' telling of the areas rich farming and fishing heritage. The town centre retains a charm and character and is surrounded by pretty cottages staggered up the surrounding hillsides. The town centre is ripe for redevelopment with a significant central area designated for retails and parking use and a charming network of lanes, currently used predominantly for light industrial use, linked with the harbour.

The town centre and 'lanes' redevelopment will see a revitalisation of this area, managed in such a way as to enhance the existing character of the town.

The elements of this phase of the Brixham Regeneration programme comprises:

  • Car parking facilities and new town centre superstore
  • Refurbishment of 'The Lanes', heritage quarter

These works will run from 2007 and are being implemented in partnership with Brixham 21, the town's community regeneration partnership.
