The Cockington Court project will create an inspirational new arts space and become a vibrant and cultural hub with incubator space allocated for up and coming creatives.

New galleries, residency workshops, studios and teaching facilities will embed high quality crafts within a heritage context.

The project is being jointly funded by Sea Change, The European regional Development Fund and match funding from the Council.

The board approved the new build design and the appointment of Wates Construction Limited as the main contractor at its meeting on Thursday 5th Nov 09.

Full Stage D reports, including the transport assessment, will be presented for approval at the December meeting. The planning application will be submitted immediately after.

Detailed design works are progressing well and the enabling works package is expected too be undertaken before Christmas. Full mobilisation will be triggered when prices are agreed on an 'open book' basis.
